The fourth annual Twin Lakes Youth Triathlon took place on August 8th.

The 15th Annual Semi-Olympic Distance Triathlon and Eighth Annual Duathlon were held on August 14.

Both events were a huge success.

A total of 158 people took part: 47 adults in triathlon, 26 in duathlon, 18 in teams and 67 young people.

The athletes represented eight states: Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and South Dakota; and 38 different cities in Iowa.

Forty-one percent of the participants were women and 59 percent were men.

There were 67 athletes from Fort Dodge, Twin Lakes and the surrounding communities of Fonda, Lytton, Manson, Newell, Pocahontas, Pomeroy and Rockwell City.

Two of this year’s attendees commented: Tricia Gargano, Humboldt, said “Wow! It was a great race! It was my first. The workers / volunteers did a great job encouraging and directing us. Tom Maxwell, Iowa City, said: “I wanted to share how much I love participating in the event. The volunteers who make this all happen are wonderful and give her such a great energy. “
