Cariuma partners with the Tampa skatepark
Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) is proud to announce a new partnership agreement with sustainable skate shoe company Cariuma. The two-year partnership strengthens Tampa Skatepark’s global footprint and strengthens Cariuma’s commitment to supporting skateboarding culture and its community. The partnership will begin at Tampa Pro from October 15-17, 2021 and run through Tampa Am 2022.
As the host to the most defining competitions for amateur and pro skateboarders, SPoT has always been an unrivaled destination since it opened in 1993. Tampa Pro and Tampa Am are historically the most respected events in skateboarding and are enthusiastically embraced by the skateboarding community. Many of today’s skateboard greats have stepped onto the podium at SPoT events including Paul Rodriguez, Luan Oliveira, Torey Pudwill, Bastien Salabanzi, Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston. With today’s announcement, the SPoT legacy will be stronger than ever thanks to the presence of the Cariuma brand at the events as well as the majority of the Cariuma skate team.
Cariuma was founded by two Brazilians with extensive experience in the footwear industry who have always been passionate about board sports, Fernando Porto and David Python, who place people at the center of their mission. Born and raised in Rio, skateboarding has been a part of co-founder Fernando’s life since he was a child with a plethora of injuries to prove it. They launched Cariuma in May 2018 with a clear vision to create a conscious brand built with premium natural materials that skateboarders and surfers would actually want to wear on the streets, to the beach and beyond. The company announced its skate team in September 2021. Since its inception, Cariuma skate has taken the industry by surprise as a small but powerful team of positive-minded individuals. And last summer, the skate team performed and named the biggest stage for athletes, the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. Kelvin Hoefler and Jagger Eaton won the competition’s first silver and bronze medals. skateboarding, which has captured the attention of the industry. In its third year, the brand is now bringing its presence to skate shops internationally, bringing our ethical and sustainable values to more skateboarders across their local communities. Cariuma shoes will soon be available on SpoT’s skate shop and e-commerce platform.

CARIUMA is a conscious sneaker company founded by Fernando Porto and David Python, two personalities in the footwear industry who put people at the center of their mission. The two are linked on their common values of balanced employment and well-being being the basis of ethical business practices and the passion for board sports. After stepping down from their roles as high profile corporate shoes, they decided that conscience should come after the quality of life of everyone who works around them. They felt they had a responsibility to take a stand against the wasteful practices inherent in fast fashion and that it was vital to reinvent the sneaker game. Even with all the advancements in ethics and comfort, the old-fashioned brands they had worked for previously offered, in turn, mediocre quality. These uncomfortable sneakers still dominated the market in unethical ways. Come in, CARIUMA. CARIUMA offers future classics designed for daily comfort throughout the day as well as longevity and increased lifespan. CARIUMA works exclusively with ethical factories and sources only premium quality natural and recycled materials. All the impact of shipping is offset to become carbon neutral, and their single box shipping method is made with recycled and 100% recyclable materials. In addition, for every pair of sneakers sold, the brand plants a pair of trees in the Brazilian rainforest to directly help reforestation and the habitats of endangered species.
