Recall of muffins at 7-Eleven, Stop & Shop and Walmart stores in NJ

If you’ve stopped for a morning muffin at 7-Eleven or bought one from Stop & Shop or Walmart, you might want to throw it out.

The FDA has announced a recall of muffins manufactured by Give and Go Prepared Foods Corporation due to possible listeria contamination.

Listeria usually manifests as food poisoning with symptoms such as fever and diarrhea, but in some cases can cause serious illness. Symptoms usually appear within four weeks of eating contaminated food.

The recall involves muffins sold under the “Uncle Wally’s” label as well as products sold under generic brand names. A full list of affected products can be found here.

In the notice posted on the FDA’s website, the agency says the recall was voluntary and does not affect any other Give and Go product other than those listed above.

There have been no known illnesses related to the products, but the FDA says that “consumers who have these products should immediately throw the products away and not eat them.”
