RICOH Announces Ricoh GR IIIx Urban Edition Limited Special Kit
A second special package – the RICOH GR IIIx Urban Edition body-only version (camera body only, without the genuine leather strap and metal hot shoe cover) – is expected to be available in summer 2022.
| Key Features of the RICOH GR III Street Edition Limited Special Kit |
The RICOH GR IIIx Urban Edition camera body is accented by a navy blue ring around the lens barrel. This color was selected to represent typical street shooter imagery, such as a deep blue sky reflected in a puddle after a rain or the bright neon signs of a city that never sleeps. The camera body is finished in metallic grey, reminiscent of the gritty tones of the cityscape. This unique exterior finish requires a multi-coated process, resulting in the camera’s distinctive appearance and smooth texture. The coating also allows the photographer to have a firm grip on the camera.
The navy stripe on the leather strap matches the color of the lens barrel ring, complementing the overall camera design. The package also includes a specially designed black metallic hoof cover.
This camera is also launching several new features that will also be available for standard GR IIIx models with firmware updates that will be released with the availability of this limited edition kit. These are:
- Snap Distance Priority mode, a new exposure setting: Once the preferred distance for snapshots and desired depth of field (DOF) are set in advance, the camera allows the user to quickly and easily recall these settings. This setting is programmed to select the aperture, providing the depth of field used in panoramic photography, making it particularly useful for fast instant photography.
- Auto-area AF focus mode (center): Instead of covering the entire image field, this mode only works in nine focus areas around the center of the image field, preventing the camera from focusing on unintended elements , such as a grassy field in the foreground of an image.
- Enable shutter release capability in AF mode: When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the user can lock the AF system only, without locking the AE system.
- Instant Mode: A distance setting of 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) has been added to Snapshot mode; and a long press on the monitor during playback allows the user to instantly recall the playback function selection menu.
When the camera power is off, the camera displays an original shutdown screen with the product logo and a street image symbolizing the urban concept of the package.
Note: Other camera specifications are the same as the standard GR IIIx model.
